Trees are a critical aspect of the environment. Not only do they purify the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, prevent erosion, and act as an important buffer against climate change, trees also support the lives of local communities and help them to thrive. However, forests around the world are under threat.

Despite their importance, we continue to see the increased loss of forests and the animals that need them to survive. This is why we decided to play our part by organizing a tree planting exercise at the Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary through the Oraro & Company Advocates’ CSR Committee. Ngong Hills forest is located at the northern tip of Kajiado County and is about 25Km from Nairobi CBD. The forest covers an area of 3077.6 Ha and is managed by the Kenya Forest Service and the Ngong Road Forest Association, a community forest association formed under the Forest Act of 2005.

By partnering with the local community to return degraded forests to a more natural state, which requires much more than just planting new trees. We seek to play a part in safeguarding our future. Further, we have an aim of supporting other on-the-ground actions to keep forests thriving.
