Partnering With the National Council for Law Reporting (Kenya Law) to Support Justice Defenders – Kiambu Medium Prison

Within the prison justice system, access to legal knowledge is crucial to fostering a fair and transparent criminal trial process. Justice Defenders continues to build the capacity of persons in conflict with the law, through training of paralegals who in turn assist inmates with legal matters in crucial tasks such as the trial preparation process, how to effectively conduct legal research, drafting of court documents, fact-checking, and information retrieval.

Through a mass legal awareness programme organized by the team at Justice Defenders, Oraro & Company Advocates in partnership with National Council for Law Reporting (Kenya Law), engaged paralegals, inmates, and prison warders in an empowering session, which shed light on navigating the criminal trial process and a glimpse into recent jurisprudence relevant to criminal justice practice.

#Ourveryown Partner James Kituku and Associates Anna Kandu, Kelvin Muhindi and Wellington Nyabundi participated in the legal awareness forum. These vital training sessions equip participants with essential skills to navigate the criminal justice system effectively and uphold fair legal processes.
