As part of our continued partnership with Justice Defenders (JD) and the National Council for Law Reporting (Kenya Law), we paid a visit to the Kamiti Maximum Prison. The visits are aimed at supporting JD in its efforts to bridge the justice gap by bringing dignity to those behind bars by equipping inmates with the necessary skills to facilitate a just legal process, offering quality legal education to men and women within the prison system, and providing free, high-quality legal clinics and services to those without access to critical legal services within their communities.
#Ourveryown Partner, James Kituku, led the team in a paralegal training session, which entailed the engagement with the inmates on criminal legal procedure, drafting pleadings, case planning, legal research, fact checking, information retrieval and providing general legal assistance.
