Section 157 of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, is amended in sub section (8) by deleting the words “five hundred million” appearing immediately after the word “above” in paragraph (a) (iii) and substituting therefor the words “twenty billion”.

This proposed change relates to the prescribed threshold for exclusive preference for Kenyan citizens and seeks to increase the same from the current threshold of KES 500 million to KES 20 billion.

This clause seeks to provide an increased opportunity to Kenyan entrepreneurs to participate in tenders.
