Recognised as one of Kenya’s top litigators, George Oraro has been practicing for 30 years and has been involved in various landmark cases. As a litigator, he practices in the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court(Kenya’s highest court). He is also often involved in arbitration tribunals, as an arbitrator. Leading legal directory, Chambers Global, ranks George as a top-tier lawyer in dispute resolution(Band 1(the highest tier)).
He is also a member of the Nairobi Stock Exchange’s Technical Committee and the Kenyan Capital Markets Authority’s Legal Panel, Disclosure and Standards’ Committee. Previously, he was a Board Member of the Capital Markets Authority(CMA) for 6 years, where he advised on the legal and regulatory framework for Kenya’s capital markets during CMA’s formative phase.
With over 27 years of experience, Chacha Odera is widely recognised for his expertise. In his career, Chacha has undertaken Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution in the areas of banking, security realization, insolvency of companies, tracing of assets, negotiating the re-scheduling of debts, industrial disputes, pensions, construction and real estate. He previously represented the Secretary General of the United Nations in proceedings before the United Nations Dispute Tribunal.
He has advised several pension and provident funds on matters of formation, conversion and compliance. Moreover, he has acted for several banks(Barclays, Standard Chartered Bank, National Bank of Kenya among others) and has been appointed by the court and by several disputing parties to acts as an arbitrator.
As head of the firm’s Commercial and Conveyancing teams, Pamella has been part of various Kenyan groundbreaking commercial transactions. For instance, the privatization of Mumias Sugar Company(one of Kenya’s largest listed sugar manufacturers). She also acted in a floatation exercise by KCB(Kenya’s Biggest Bank (network-wise)).
Walter heads the firm’s commercial litigation team. Both Legal 500 and Chambers Global recognize Walter as a leading lawyer in the area of dispute resolution. Case in point, Chambers Global, lauds him saying “[he] is extremely studious and puts his point across very well”. Plus, Walter has a great deal of experience in ICT briefs and judicial review applications; one of his highlights is that he successfully represented the Communications Commissions of Kenya in several suits arising from the grant of a licence to the third GSM mobile operator in Kenya.
In his legal career, John has handled a wide variety of commercial disputes as well as constitutional related disputes. He has been involved in many high-profile cases involving clients like breweries giant- EABL and Standard Group(which prints one of the largest Kenyan newspapers). In addition John has acted in some of Kenya’s landmark labour disputes including one involving Kenya’s largest trade union. John is reputed for having a stellar litigation track record, mostly involving recovery of debts and realization of securities as well as land disputes. He is also known for his meticulous and pragmatic approach to dispute resolution.
A recognized dispute resolution expert, Noella has experience representing clients in a wide range of areas such as energy, oil and gas, public procurement, intellectual property, human rights, employment, land and environmental matters, shareholder disputes and the capital markets, among others. A Kenyan advocate, she has assisted several well-noted clients in some of Kenya's well publicized contentious matters.
She has a Master’s degree in Constitutional and Administrative law from the University of Cape Town(one of Africa's highly ranked universities) and has handled several judicial review applications. Noella comes with strong expertise in international arbitration practice; in fact she recently contributed to the sixth edition of the International Arbitration Review.
Aside from his experience representing clients in civil and commercial litigation, insurance, admiralty and maritime, Geoffrey has advised on several energy, oil and gas transactions. A notable highlight is that he negotiated and advised an IPP in respect of a USD 146 Million Power Purchase Agreement (involving a syndicated loan with international financers).
Nelly specializes in Real Estate and Conveyancing, Banking and Commercial Law. She has advised several financial institutions including Barclays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of Africa, NIC bank, Kenya Commercial Bank, Citibank N.A, CfC Stanbic Bank, Commercial Bank of Africa, I&M Bank, Middle East Bank, among others.
She also has vast expertise in creating and perfecting bank securities. In addition, she has advised various real estate property developers and assisted clients in different sectors in transactions such as incorporation of companies, joint ventures and M&A deals.
